Egypt secures Qatari investment boost, launches first SCZONE industrial deal
Bilateral trade between the two countries rose to $143 million during the first 10 months of 2025.
Egypt and Qatar are working on joint initiatives that would see Doha double its investments in the North African country, Egypt’s minister of investment and foreign trade, Hassan El Khatib, said on Sunday.
What happened: Speaking to the Qatar News Agency on the sidelines of the Egyptian-Qatari Investment Forum in Cairo, Khatib said Qatari investments in Egypt are rising and that both countries can double current figures “in the coming period” by establishing joint financial mechanisms.
Khatib noted that bilateral trade has also expanded rapidly, reaching $143 million in the first 10 months of 2025, up from $80 million in the same period of 2023 — an increase of nearly 80%.
He added that a specialized committee has been formed to facilitate investment and trade procedures for Qatari companies in Egypt.
