Leaked video shows Khamenei aide's daughter in Western wedding gown amid Iran's hijab crackdown

An Iranian news outlet lashed out on Monday against criticism of senior official Ali Shamkhani after a video was leaked from his daughter’s lavish wedding. The bride is dressed in a strapless gown in contravention of the Islamic Republic's strict modesty laws.
What happened: Amid outrage online over a video that surfaced depicting the wedding of Shamkhani’s daughter, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-affiliated Javan News published an article reading that people should avoid “moral scrutiny of private lives.”
In the video, Shamkhani is seen walking with his daughter, Fatemeh, and posing for pictures. The bride is wearing a low-cut gown, while another woman in the video is not wearing a head covering at all. Some other guests captured are seen in hijabs.

The video first circulated on Iranian social media on Saturday, though the wedding reportedly took place in April 2024 at the five-star Espinas Palace Hotel in Tehran.
