Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday for his second visit this year, meeting with Emirati President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss bilateral ties and regional issues, including the ongoing war in Gaza.

Sheikh Mohamed welcomed Sisi at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The two later held a meeting at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, during which they discussed bilateral relations and ways to boost cooperation in various fields, particularly in the economic, trade and investment sectors, according to an Egyptian presidency statement.

Sisi and Sheikh Mohamed also addressed the latest regional developments, including in Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen and Somalia, as well as efforts to restore security and stability in the region.

On the war in the Gaza Strip, both leaders agreed on the need to allow more humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave and emphasized the importance of achieving peace based on the two-state solution, the statement added. Sheikh Mohamed praised Egypt’s ongoing efforts to mediate a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
