Smotrich and Bessent issued a joint statement following the meeting, saying that it “marks a significant step in further strengthening US-Israel economic ties.”  

“To advance shared economic interests, both sides agreed to strengthen dialogue mechanisms to enhance collaboration in key areas, including economic policy, technology and financial regulation,” the statement read. “This is a critical time to shape a new strategic economic future for both countries, reinforcing American global leadership and Israel’s role as a key economic partner.” 

A post by Smotrich on X prior to touching down in Washington said, “In addition, in my meetings, I will emphasize Israel’s determined stance in the fight against terrorism and the need for clear American backing for the continuation of our security activities in the war.” The post indicates the two may have also touched upon security issues during their talks.
