JERUSALEM — Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, flew to Miami for a three-week visit in late November, but almost 50 days on, she has yet to return despite major upheavals in her husband’s life, sparking widespread curiosity and speculation.
Sara Netanyahu, 66, is a psychologist by profession and has been married to Benjamin Netanyahu for 33 years. They have rarely been apart. In fact, her reported insistence that she accompany him on all foreign travel, including short one- or two-day visits, has elicited no small amount of criticism and conjecture in Israel over the years. Over his accumulated 18 years in office, Israelis have grown accustomed to seeing the couple boarding flights holding hands and posing side by side for photo ops with foreign leaders.
