The Saudi-funded LIV Golf tour has finally come to Saudi soil.

The tournament’s Saudi leg began today and will conclude on Oct. 16 at the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club outside of Jeddah on the Red Sea. American Brooks Koepka was at the top of the leaderboard after day one, followed by South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel. In terms of LIV Golf’s unique team format, Smash GC led at the end of day one. The team is captained by Koepka. Temperatures in Jeddah reached a high of 35 degrees Celsius (95 Fahrenheit).

The other LIV events this year took place in the United States, the United Kingdom and Thailand.

LIV Golf’s events can be viewed for free on YouTube, which is part of its appeal. Day one of the Jeddah tournament received more than 125,000 views on YouTube as of 9:00 pm local time.
