Kuwait's 91-year-old ruler flew to the United States today to complete his treatment following an unspecified surgery on Sunday, the state media outlet reported.

The report from the state-run KUNA news agency did not provide any further information on what sort of medical care Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah needed in the United States or where he would receive it.

The agency quoted the royal court as saying Sabah left to complete “medical treatment following his recent successful surgery, as advised by the medical team.”

“The minister prayed to Allah the Almighty to bestow cure, wellbeing and recovery on His Highness the Amir and to protect him from any harm,” the statement read.
