US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Vice President JD Vance, and even Secretary of State Marco Rubio all visited Israel this week, urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to uphold the Gaza ceasefire and move forward with the second phase of President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan. But Netanyahu and Israel’s security establishment do not believe that Hamas can be disarmed — a position that puts Israel and the United States on a potential collision course.
