Israel, Syria hold first high level talks in 25 years

The meeting raised hopes across the region that Israel and Syria may be edging closer to a security agreement.

An unprecedented meeting Thursday in Paris between US Ambassador Tom Barrack, Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani has raised hopes across the region that Israel and Syria may be edging closer to a security agreement that would guarantee the safety of the Syrian Druze and ease tensions between the Netanyahu government and Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa.
