Iran’s IRGC slams Trump as Ghalibaf threatens oil infrastructure
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned that no other country in the region will be able to sell oil if Iran is unable to do so.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf issued a new warning to the United States on Tuesday, saying that if Iran’s security is not guaranteed, infrastructure in the region will be targeted.
What happened: In a speech before Iran's parliament on Tuesday, Ghalibaf also warned that no country in the region will be able to sell oil if Iran is blocked from doing so. He said, “Let both the Americans and other countries know: Just as we have said before, in any region where we do not sell oil, no one will sell oil, and if our security is not guaranteed, no infrastructure will be safe.”
Ghalibaf, who is also Iran’s chief negotiator, criticized US President Donald Trump’s claims that the US has control over the Strait of Hormuz, calling them “baseless.”
On Trump’s threats to “annihilate” Iran during his speech to the UN General Assembly last week, Ghalibaf said his country did not seek war but is ready to defend itself.
