Lebanon, UAE ink deals, deepen economic ties on Emirati Beirut visit
An Emirati business delegation signed the agreements in Beirut and met with President Joseph Aoun, indicating the UAE's interest in deepening economic ties with Lebanon.
BEIRUT — A high-level business delegation led by UAE Foreign Trade Minister Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi wrapped up a two-day visit to Beirut on Thursday, during which several memoranda of understanding (MoU) were signed, signaling a rapprochement between Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates after years of strained relations.
The visit marked the largest-ever Emirati business delegation to Lebanon, dispatched at a time when Beirut seeks to revive its economy and rekindle ties with oil-rich Gulf states.
Ministerial meetings
On Thursday, Al Zeyoudi and the other delegates met with Lebanese Economy Minister Amr al-Bisat at his ministry in Beirut, where the two signed an MoU aimed at strengthening trade, investment and developing the economic partnership between the two countries.
