India, Iran hold sidebar as SCO summit opens amid US strikes
The meetings come as tensions between Tehran and Washington have once again escalated.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with the leaders of India, Pakistan and Azerbaijan on Monday on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit as Tehran looks for support amid renewed confrontation with the United States.
What happened: Pezeshkian met on Monday with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and ways to expand cooperation.
According to Iran's semi-official news agency Mehr, Modi told Pezeshkian that India has “tried to continue and maintain our cooperation and communications with Iran” amid the war between Iran and the US.
Pezeshkian stressed that Tehran was still seeking a diplomatic resolution.
