ANKARA — Turkish authorities have detained 11 suspects in connection with what is widely believed to be an Islamic State-linked attack outside the Israeli Consulate General in Istanbul as the investigation widened across multiple provinces.
Details: The detentions follow Tuesday’s shooting just outside a high-rise in Istanbul’s Levent district that houses the consulate, where one of the three assailants was killed and two police officers were wounded.
Security forces carried out coordinated raids in Istanbul, the neighboring province of Kocaeli and the central Anatolian province of Konya, according to Turkey’s state broadcaster TRT.
Investigators also established that the assailants had surveilled the site before the attack, TRT reported.
