Moscow told US President Donald Trump on Monday that it has not shared intelligence with Iran during the ongoing war, US special envoy Steve Witkoff said on Tuesday.

“I can tell you that yesterday on the call with the president, the Russians said that they have not been sharing,” Witkoff told CNBC in an interview on Tuesday.

Trump held a phone call with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on Monday to discuss the situation in Iran. Yuri Ushakov, a foreign policy aide to Putin, said that the Russian leader “set out a number of considerations aimed at achieving a prompt political and diplomatic settlement of the Iranian conflict.” This is their first call since December 2025.

Witkoff added, “Yesterday morning, independently, Jared [Kushner] and I had a call with Ushakov, who reiterated the same.”
