Citi, HSBC order Gulf evacuations after Iran threatens US tech, banks
The United Arab Emirates is home to Dubai Internet City, which hosts more than 4,000 businesses, including US tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Dell, Amazon, Mastercard and Visa. Several of these companies also have offices in Abu Dhabi.
Iran warned major US technology companies on Wednesday that their offices and infrastructure across the Middle East could be hit, with state-linked media publishing a list of tech sites it claimed were tied to military operations.
The semi-official Tasnim news agency published what it described as Iran’s new targets, including offices and infrastructure belonging to companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google, IBM, Nvidia, Oracle and Palantir in Israel and several Gulf states.
“With the expansion of the regional war into an infrastructure war, the scope of Iran’s legitimate targets gradually becomes broader,” the Tasnim report noted.
