US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff met Tuesday with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel ahead of US-Iran talks scheduled for Friday, amid Israeli concerns that a partial agreement with Tehran might fail to fully shield the country from nuclear and ballistic missile threats.

Israeli military Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, Mossad Director David Barnea, Defense Minister Israel Katz and military intelligence chief Shlomi Binder also participated in the meeting with Witkoff, which was described by Israeli security sources as crucial. During the meeting, Zamir presented Witkoff with an updated intelligence assessment, detailing the threats Iran poses to Israel and other countries in the region.

The prime minister's office said in a statement after the meeting that Netanyahu had told Witkoff that "Iran has repeatedly proven its promises cannot be trusted."

Ahead of Witkoff’s arrival, Haaretz had reported that Netanyahu planned to present the American envoy with Israel’s positions on Iran, both advocating a potential strike to topple the regime and outlining concerns regarding the upcoming talks.
