ANKARA — US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, a senior adviser to President Donald Trump and his son-in-law, are set to meet Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Friday to discuss a possible offramp to the ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran, a Turkish official told Al-Monitor.
Details: Despite initial reports that the meeting would take place in Istanbul, the source said that the location of the meeting was still under discussion.
“What matters to us is the establishment of a peace table. We are ready to contribute wherever the diplomatic table is set,” the source added.
Officials from Turkey, Egypt, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are also expected to attend, the source said. The story was first reported by Axios on Monday.
