IRGC warns Israel it has 'hands on the trigger' as Iran protests enter 11th day
Iranian officials have repeatedly accused the US and Israel of instigating the mass protests in Iran.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Wednesday it was on high alert for attack by the United States or Israel as Iran entered its 11th day of nationwide protests, which authorities say are fueled by foreign actors.
What happened: Brig. Gen. Morteza Ghorbani, senior adviser to the IRGC commander, said in a statement carried by Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency on Wednesday that 400 units from the IRGC and Iran’s wider military have been placed on full alert.
“They are ready. If any aggression occurs, they will level [Israel] to the ground,” Ghorbani warned, adding that Iran's military, IRGC and law enforcement have their “hands on the trigger.”
Ghorbani’s remarks are the latest in a series of threats from Iran after US President Donald Trump vowed military action over the killing of protesters.
