Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with President Donald Trump Dec. 29 in the United States, after the two leaders recently sent contrasting messages about the prospects of moving to the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire.

According to Ynet, the meeting will take place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, though neither the Trump administration nor the Israeli prime minister's office has confirmed the location.

Agenda items

The US president is expected to press Netanyahu to advance the second phase of the Gaza truce, halt potential plans for a large-scale strike on Hezbollah in Lebanon and compromise on issues related to Syria so the two countries can reach a security agreement. Netanyahu’s far-right coalition rejects these positions and is pressuring the prime minister not to concede to any of the American demands.
