Iran FM, Qatar emir meet as Doha holds talks with IAEA over Iran sanctions
The visit is Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s first to Qatar since Iran attacked US forces at the Al Udeid base.
During Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's visit to Doha on Thursday, he and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani discussed strengthening ties. The trip, which Iran said focused on the Gaza war, comes amid mounting pressure on the Islamic Republic over its nuclear program.
Araghchi and the emir exchanged views on boosting Iran-Qatar relations, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said. They also discussed international developments including the Gaza war and “the necessity of decisive action” from the region and the international community to halt what Iran described as Israel’s “warmongering and hegemonic designs.”

The official Qatar News Agency reported that Araghchi brought a message to the emir from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian about bilateral relations and unspecified areas of common interest.
Later on Thursday, Araghchi met a number of Hamas officials, including senior member Khalil al-Hayya. They discussed "diplomatic communications" toward a ceasefire in Gaza, including Qatari and Egyptian mediation efforts, as well as the Israeli attack on Iran in June, the group said in a statement.
