Syrian forces dismantle ISIS cell near Turkish border: What to know
Syria says it has thwarted a number of ISIS plots in 2025 as the group seeks to exploit sectarian tensions in the country.
Syrian authorities announced Thursday the dismantling of an ISIS cell near the Turkish border in Idlib province.
The move highlighting Damascus’ ongoing priority of targeting the group amid efforts to consolidate control.
What happened: The Syrian Interior Ministry said that its forces dismantled a “terrorist cell affiliated with ISIS” near the city of Haram, around a mile from the Turkish border. The forces seized explosives, sniper rifles, machine guns, mortar shells and materials for making booby traps.

The ministry posted images on X of nine men it said were arrested during the raid.
