Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid airport sets record with 3.9M passengers in July
Air travel is a part of the Vision 2030 plan to diversify the economy, though challenges remain in attracting tourists and catching up to other Gulf airports.
Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport broke a record for most passengers in a day last month, state media reported on Thursday, as Saudi Arabia seeks to become a global air travel hub as part of its broader economic diversification plans.
The official Saudi Press Agency reported that the airport welcomed 142,538 passengers in a single day last month, breaking the previous record of 131,691 on Aug. 1, 2024. The agency did not specify which day in July the record was broken.
The airport served 3.9 million passengers in July and had 26,000 total flights, both records for most in a month, according to the agency.
King Khalid International Airport says it received 37 million passengers in 2024, its most ever.
