Iran to launch missile drill as Araghchi signals conditional IAEA cooperation
Ahead of a missile exercise planned for Thursday, Iran’s foreign minister said that the return of IAEA inspectors will be possible should it be approved by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
Iran is set to conduct a missile drill on Thursday as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warns that the reimposition of UN sanctions on Iran would mean the end of European involvement in nuclear negotiations.
Abbas Hassani, the spokesperson for Iran’s naval forces, said the operational phase of the Sustainable Power 1404 missile exercise will run for two days in the northern Indian Ocean and the Sea of Oman, according to Iranian state news agency IRNA. The drill will include surface and subsurface units, flight units, shore-to-sea and sea-based missile sites as well as electronic warfare forces.
According to Hassani, Iran will test a wide range of precision cruise missiles with short, medium and long ranges, attacking and destroying floating targets.
Hassani framed the exercise as part of Iran’s broader strategy of deterrence, citing military readiness, boosting morale and demonstrating Iran's domestic defense expertise.
