ANKARA/WASHINGTON — Istanbul will host another round of talks between Iran and three European powers on Friday, a senior Iranian official announced Monday, marking the first of its kind since the end of the 12-day war between Iran and Israel last month.

What happened: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei announced the resumption of the talks during a press briefing Monday, according to Iran’s semi-official ISNA news.

“Iran has agreed to hold a new round of negotiations,” Baghaei was quoted as telling reporters during the briefing.

He added that the meeting would be held at the deputy foreign ministers’ level and that the EU's deputy foreign policy officer would also join the talks.
