Saudi Arabia was expected to sign investment deals worth nearly $6 billion with Syria during the Syrian-Saudi Investment Forum, which began on Wednesday in Damascus.

What happened: The two-day forum, organized by the Saudi Ministry of Investment, is being attended by a delegation from the kingdom that includes government officials and business leaders, including Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih and 120 investors across various sectors, according to the Saudi-based AlEkhbariya News.

Syrian Information Minister Hamza al-Moustafa said at a press conference in Damascus late Wednesday that 44 agreements, which will include deals, projects and memoranda of understanding, would be signed at a total value of more than $6 billion.
