Saudi Arabia and Indonesia signed several agreements worth $27 billion Wednesday in fields including oil, petrochemicals, clean energy and aviation fuel services as the two Sunni-majority countries continue to build economic ties.

What happened: The signing of the deals and memoranda of understanding took place during Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to the kingdom this week, his first since taking office in October 2024.

Subianto, who arrived in Jeddah on Tuesday, met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday for talks to strengthen bilateral relations.

The Indonesian leader left Saudi Arabia early on Thursday, after performing Umrah — Islam's lesser major pilgrimage that is performed by Muslims all year long — in the holy city of Mecca, according to the SPA.
