NEW YORK — Iran’s bargaining to avoid snapback sanctions has begun.
The country’s top nuclear negotiator suggested Wednesday that continued Iranian participation in a global nonproliferation agreement depends on whether Europe makes good on its threat to reimpose previously lifted United Nations sanctions.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi spoke to journalists in New York ahead of a new round of nuclear talks in Istanbul on Friday, where he and European negotiators will meet for the first time since US warplanes attacked Iran’s nuclear sites last month.
