Ceasefire fragile as Syria evacuates Bedouins in Suwayda, US urges accountability
The Syrian government has moved some Bedouin families out of the southern province after clashes with Druze fighters intensified over the weekend.
The Syrian government announced the evacuation of more than a thousand Bedouin families from Suwayda as well as aid deliveries to the area on Monday after more violence broke out between Bedouin and Druze fighters.
The US envoy to Syria called for patience toward the new government in Damascus as it tries to address the situation.
What happened: The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that a large number of Bedouin families left Suwayda province for the neighboring Daraa on Monday as part of a government-sponsored agreement.
The official news outlet SANA broadcast convoys of vehicles it said were bringing Bedouin families from Suwayda to Daraa.
