More airlines nix flights, shippers express caution after US strikes Iran
A handful of carriers canceled more flights to key Middle Eastern transit hubs like Dubai and Doha on Monday.
Airlines canceled additional flights and shipping companies took precautions across the Middle East on Monday, as the region braced for Iran’s response to the US bombing of its nuclear sites over the weekend.
On Saturday, the United States struck three of Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities — Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz — which President Donald Trump claimed in a televised address were “completely and totally obliterated.” There has been no official confirmation of the damage to these key sites. Iran, however, has downplayed the impact while vowing to retaliate and “end the war.”
The US strikes marked a significant escalation following more than a week of Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear, military and government targets — and retaliatory missile strikes from Iran.
