Middle East condemns Israeli strikes on Iran, calls for restraint
Leaders from across the region have harshly criticized Israel's attack as threatening the stability of the region.
The Israeli strikes against Iran on Friday prompted a wave of condemnation across the region, with mounting calls for calm to avoid further escalation.
The Israeli military said 200 fighter jets dropped more than 330 munitions on some 100 targets across Iran, targeting the country’s nuclear program and killing three commanders in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The Iranian armed forces vowed to deliver a “crushing response” to Israel, while the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that responding to the Israeli attack is Iran's legal and legitimate right, as it violated the United Nations Charter's prohibition on threats or the use of force in international relations.
Meanwhile, Iran fired more than 100 drones toward Israel shortly after the attack. The Israeli media reported that air defense intercepted most of them before they entered Israeli airspace.
