What we know about Elias Rodriguez, suspect in attack on Israeli Embassy staff in DC
The 30-year-old man from Chicago is suspected of killing Israeli embassy staffers Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim.
Washington, DC, police are holding a man they identified as Elias Rodriguez for allegedly shooting and killing two Israeli embassy staff members, in an attack last night in the US capital.
Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim were leaving an event held by the American Jewish Committee at the Capital Jewish Museum when they were shot at close range, authorities and witnesses said.
Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith identified Rodriguez as a 30-year-old man from Chicago. Video of his arrest taken by a passerby captures a man wearing a suit and glasses and shouting "Free Palestine!" several times while being detained. Police said Rodriguez had no prior criminal record and was seen pacing outside the museum before the attack.
Milgrim was a Jewish American, and Lischinsky was a dual Israeli-German national and a Christian.
