Turkey's Fidan visits UAE for talks on Syria, Gaza: What to know
The top Turkish diplomat’s visit to the UAE comes amid heightened tensions between Turkey and Israel over Syria.
ANKARA — Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan paid a visit to the United Arab Emirates on Monday for talks with senior Emirati officials, with Syria and other regional conflicts expected to dominate the agenda.
Fidan, who met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi, was also slated to meet with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, later Monday.
Sheikh Mohamed and Fidan discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Turkey and the UAE during their meeting in Abu Dhabi, the Emirati official news agency WAM reported.
They also exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues, with particular focus on the latest developments in the Middle East, according to WAM.
