Trump, Erdogan discuss defense ties, Ukraine, possible visit in call: What to know
The two leaders discussed defense cooperation, peace efforts in Ukraine.
ANKARA — US President Donald Trump and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, discussed bilateral as well as regional issues during a phone call on Monday, according to the US leader and a Turkish readout.
It was the second phone call held between the two leaders since Trump returned to the White House in January.
Trump described the conversation as “very good and productive” in a post from his Truth Social account, adding that the pair discussed several issues including the Russian war in Ukraine as well as the war in Gaza and political situation in Syria.
“I look forward to working with President Erdogan on getting the ridiculous, but deadly, War between Russia and Ukraine ended — NOW!” Trump said.
