Egypt’s Sisi in Russia, meets Putin after military parade: What to know
Egypt and the Palestinian Authority both sent representatives to Russia for the annual World War II parade as they court ties with Moscow.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was in Moscow on Friday to watch Egyptian troops participate in a Russian military parade. He also met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for talks on the Gaza war.
What happened: Sisi arrived in Moscow on Thursday and attended a dinner hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin that evening.
On Friday, Sisi attended Russia’s annual military parade commemorating the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. Egyptian military police participated in the procession, the state-owned Al-Ahram reported.
The Russian state media outlet RT reported that Sisi met with Putin on Friday on the sidelines of the event.
