US imposes new Iran sanctions ahead of Oman talks as Tehran touts nuclear gains
Iranian officials met their Russian and Chinese counterparts on Tuesday to discuss the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program as Tehran prepares for negotiations with Washington.
Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian vowed on Wednesday that Iran will face any “threats” over its nuclear program and the Iranian military pledged to build more drone bases as the United States announced fresh sanctions on Tehran's nuclear program days before talks between the foes are set to take place.
Pezeshkian said in an address that Iran does not want a war but will respond to “aggression,” state media reported as Iran is preparing for a new round of nuclear-related talks with the United States, set to take place on Saturday in Oman.
“The more they threaten, the firmer we stand,” said Pezeshkian. “We are not seeking war, but we will stand strong against any aggression.”
Pezeshkian made the comments at a ceremony in Tehran for Iran’s National Nuclear Technology Day. He visited an exhibition dedicated to Iran’s nuclear achievements including uranium processing and enrichment, fuel complexes and yellowcake production.
