HOUSTON — XRG, a new low-carbon energy company, will make significant investments in projects — including gas and chemicals — in the United States over the coming months, according to its chief executive and founder, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber.

Al Jaber also holds leadership roles at the two UAE state-owned energy companies: He’s CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and chairman of renewables firm Masdar. He is the UAE Minister for Industry and Advanced Technology, and he presided over the COP28 UN climate talks in Dubai at the end of 2023.

Al Jaber announced the launch of XRG, a subsidiary of ADNOC, in November 2024. The company, which focuses on low-carbon energy sources such as gas, chemicals and green ammonia, has a value of at least $80 billion. It began activities in the first quarter of 2025 and will operate separately from ADNOC.

Speaking on Tuesday at the S&P CERAWeek energy conference in Houston, Al Jaber said that “investing in the US through XRG is not only a priority, it is in fact an absolute imperative.”
