Turkey receives price offer for 40 Eurofighter jets amid Trump-EU rift
Ankara's Eurofighter procurement plans are progressing as mutual intents grow in defense cooperation between Ankara and European capitals.
ANKARA — Ankara received a price offer for 40 Eurofighter Typhoon jets, the Turkish Defense Ministry said on Thursday, as European powers and Turkey seek ways to deepen defense cooperation amid a European rift with the Trump administration.
“The expected offer has reached our ministry and the review process is ongoing,” a high-level ministry official told reporters at a briefing, speaking under customary anonymity.
Turkey is seeking to procure 40 Eurofighter Typhoon jets manufactured by a European consortium comprising the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and Germany. Last month, Ankara submitted a document outlining its technical, logistical and operational requirements for the aircraft.
The announcement follows a visit earlier on Thursday by UK Defense Secretary John Healey to Ankara, where he met with Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler.
