Iran's IRGC unveils underground facility housing thousands of ballistic missiles
As it navigates crises at home and abroad, Iran has released video footage of an underground “missile city” in an attempt to flex its military might.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps unveiled on Tuesday an underground missile facility that reportedly houses thousands of precision-guided ballistic missiles.
What happened: Iran’s state news agency, IRNA, published a video of the unveiling, which showed Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri and the commander of the IRGC’s aerospace division, Brig. Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, touring the facility in what appears to be a military vehicle.
“Iran’s iron fist is far stronger than before,” Bagheri said while addressing the facility’s personnel.
“All the dimensions that are required for generating a [military] capability that is 10 times the one deployed during Operation True Promise II have been created,” the commander said. Operation True Promise II refers to Iran’s October 2024 strike on Israel — the second direct Iranian attack on Israel. The first one was in April 2024, which Iran said was in retaliation for Israel's bombing of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus on April 1.
