UAE, Ukraine finalize trade deal during Zelenskyy's visit
The agreement is expected to contribute $369 million to the UAE’s GDP and $874 million to Ukraine’s GDP by 2031.
The United Arab Emirates and Ukraine signed a trade deal on Monday during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the Gulf country to meet his counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The so-called Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) will bolster trade, investment and economic collaboration between the two countries.
The agreement was signed during a formal ceremony at the Qasr Al Shati palace in Abu Dhabi by UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi and Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko, according to a statement by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Under the CEPA, 99% of Ukrainian imports of UAE goods and 97% of Ukrainian exports to the UAE will be exempt from customs duties with immediate effect, WAM reported.
