Turkey optimistic on procurement of Eurofighter jets and Meteor missiles
A senior Turkish official has confirmed Turkey’s bid to procure Meteor missiles.
ANKARA — Turkey’s procurement of Meteor missiles from a European consortium is progressing smoothly, a senior Turkish Defense Ministry official said on Thursday.
“The procurement of the Meteor missiles, along with the Eurofighter aircraft, is proceeding without any issues,” a Turkish official said in a briefing.
Turkey seeks 40 Eurofighter jets manufactured by a European consortium involving the UK, Italy, Spain, and Germany. Last month Ankara announced that it submitted a document outlining its technical, logistical and operational needs from the Eurofighter sale.
“As part of the Eurofighter Typhoon procurement process, we plan to integrate the Meteor missiles into our inventory,” the official told reporters during a press briefing.
