Elon Musk's Boring Co. to build Dubai Loop network of tunnels
The loop is a network of underground tunnels, similar to one being developed in Las Vegas, that allows passengers to be transported nonstop, in electric vehicles, to 11 stations.
DUBAI — Elon Musk, a close adviser of US President Donald Trump and founder of the Boring Company, a transportation and infrastructure firm, said at a forum in Dubai on Thursday that he would launch the Dubai Loop, a network of underground car tunnels in the United Arab Emirates.
Musk — founder and CEO of SpaceX, CEO of Tesla and the world's wealthiest man — live streamed to the World Governments Summit for an interview with UAE Minister for Artificial Intelligence Omar al-Olama.
Describing the proposed network as a "wormhole," Musk said it will allow people to travel from "one part of the city, boom, and you're at another part of the city."
"The joint project of Dubai Loop will cover Dubai's most densely populated areas for people to go from point to point in a seamless manner," he added.
