An Egyptian Islamist fighter who threatened to overthrow the government of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was reportedly arrested by Syrian authorities on Wednesday as Egypt navigates concerns about the transition in Damascus.
The Arabic-language news outlet Asharq al-Awsat reported on Wednesday that Egyptian judicial authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Ahmed al-Mansour, who is currently in a Syrian detention center, Reuters reported.
Egypt and Syria’s transitional government did not immediately comment.
