Israel reopens north Gaza passage after Hamas pledges to release 3 more hostages
Hamas agreed to release three more hostages on Thursday, after it failed to release civilian Arbel Yehud on Saturday, in exchange for Israel opening Monday morning the passage to northern Gaza.
Tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians have started returning to northern Gaza after Israel reopened the east-west Netzarim Corridor on Monday morning. The decision came after Hamas agreed to release three additional Israeli hostages this Thursday.
The corridor, originally scheduled to open on Saturday under the terms of the ceasefire deal, remained closed as Israel demanded guarantees from Hamas for the release of Arbel Yehud, the last known living Israeli female civilian held captive.
Yehud is now expected to be released on Thursday along with Israeli female soldier Agam Berger and an Israeli male civilian.
Since the war began, around 650,000 Gazans have been displaced from the north.
