Airwars says Gaza war 'most fatal conflict for civilians' it documented
The UK-based nonprofit Airwars said in a new report that the number of civilians killed during the first three weeks of the Israeli war on Gaza is the largest it has ever recorded since its establishment in 2014.
Airwars, a UK-based nonprofit that investigates civilian deaths in conflict zones, said on Thursday that the toll of destruction on civilians in Gaza is the largest it has documented in a decade.
“It is by far the most intense, destructive, and fatal conflict for civilians that Airwars has ever documented” since its establishment in 2014.
At least 5,139 civilians, including 1,900 children, were killed during the first three weeks of the ongoing Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip that began on Oct. 7, 2023, a new report published Thursday found, constituting what it described as the worst pattern of harm to civilians in modern warfare.
Airwars said it recorded 606 incidents of civilian harm in the Gaza Strip between Oct. 7 and Oct. 31, 2023, representing a small percentage of the more than 7,000 incidents of civilian harm that the watchdog’s researchers have monitored since the start of the war.
