Iran's Pezeshkian slams Israel at start of BRICS summit in Russia
The summit in the Russian city of Kazan is the first since Iran, Egypt and the UAE joined BRICS as full members.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged to deepen ties with Iran during a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday, while Pezeshkian called on countries to stop Israel's "crimes" as the BRICS summit kicks off in Russia.
Modi said in a post on X that he and Pezeshkian “reviewed the full range of relations between our countries” and “discussed ways to deepen ties in futuristic sectors.”

Pezeshkian addressed Iran's conflict with Israel during the meeting, according to the official Islamic Republic News Agency.
"I hope that the countries that claim to defend human rights will help stop the crimes and killings of this regime by changing their methods and stopping their support for the Zionist regime," he said.
