Hamas’ Abu Marzouk in Russia as group grapples with Sinwar’s successor
The visit is one of many by Hamas officials to Russia since the Gaza war erupted last year.
Senior Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk arrived in Russia on Wednesday for his second visit in four months as the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip continues to rage.
Abu Marzouk, a member of Hamas’ political bureau, is scheduled to meet with Russian officials, a diplomatic source told Russia's state-owned news agency RIA Novosti, without adding more details.
Abu Marzouk last visited Moscow in June, when he met with Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov for talks on the Gaza war and Russian efforts to reach a cease-fire.
The Hamas official paid similar visits to Moscow on Jan. 19 and on Oct. 26, 2023, after the war in Gaza broke out.
