Lebanon’s National News Agency reported an Israeli airstrike in the southern Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh Friday afternoon local time. The Health Ministry said twelve people were killed, per the agency.
The Israeli military confirmed Friday evening it killed Akil. Israeli jets targeted the building where he was located earlier in the day in the Dahiyeh neighborhood, known as a Hezbollah stronghold. A report by the news agency DPA said that Akil was injured at the pager attack last Tuesday and hospitalized. He went to Dahieh after being released from the hospital.
