Hezbollah chief says 'inevitable' response to Lebanon blasts coming
Hassan Nasrallah’s speech comes after a series of pager and walkie-talkie blasts across Lebanon, increasing fears that Israel will launch a wider war in the country nearly one year into ongoing cross-border fire between Israel and Hezbollah.
BEIRUT — Hezbollah’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah addressed the two waves of explosions of wireless communication devices across Lebanon in a televised speech on Thursday, acknowledging that his group took a heavy blow.
“There is no doubt that we were dealt a heavy security and humanitarian blow that is unprecedented in the history of the resistance in Lebanon,” Nasrallah said as he accused Israel of being behind the blasts.
“We are aware of our enemy’s superiority at the technological level,” he added. “But we will overcome this ordeal, and I say that this heavy blow will not bring us down. … We will become stronger, more resilient and more steadfast.”
Nasrallah vowed that the response to the attacks will “inevitably come” without specifying when, where or how.
