This week, Egypt usurped Kuwait as the Middle East and North Africa’s top LNG importer despite Cairo’s ambition to transform the country into a gas hub. Meanwhile, the World Bank released its latest damage assessment for Syria, conservatively estimating that the war-torn country’s reconstruction could be some $216 billion. On a brighter note, Bahrain launched a tender for its largest-ever solar plant on Sunday, with the promise to more than double the country’s current total installed renewable capacity.
