US President Donald Trump said Friday he believed Hamas was ready for "lasting peace" and told Israel to stop bombing Gaza, after the Palestinian militant group declared it was ready to free hostages under his ceasefire plan.

Trump's statement marked the first time since his return to power in January that he has explicitly called on key US ally Israel -- which has yet to react -- to halt its bombardment.

NEW YORK (Reuters) -A U.S. judge dismissed a lawsuit by dozens of Israelis who accused the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees of funneling more than $1 billion that aided Hamas' October 7, 2023 attack on Israel.

U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres in Manhattan said the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) had "absolute immunity" from the lawsuit because it is a subsidiary of the United Nations, which has immunity from such lawsuits.

GENEVA (Reuters) -Switzerland will file a diplomatic protest to Israel after Israeli security forces cut short a visit by Swiss diplomats to imprisoned detainees from the Gaza aid flotilla, the Swiss foreign ministry said on Friday.

"Due to various incidents, the Israeli security authorities interrupted the visit, preventing the Swiss embassy representatives from talking at length with the group of Swiss nationals," the ministry said in a statement.

Israeli officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Youth-led protests demanding reforms to public healthcare and education took place on Friday in several Moroccan cities for a seventh day in a row, an AFP journalist and local media reported.

The protests, called by the online-based GenZ 212 group whose organisers remain unknown, also called on the kingdom's premier to resign.

"Our voices will not be silenced," read a sign held by a protester in Rabat, the Moroccan capital where dozens of people gathered in front of parliament.

MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) -In the wake of a deadly attack outside a synagogue in the northern English city of Manchester on Thursday, both Jewish and Muslim residents said they feared a rise in retaliatory violence and deepening divisions.

Jihad al-Shamie, a 35-year-old British man of Syrian descent, drove a car into pedestrians and then began stabbing several people on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, outside Manchester's Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue. Two men died in the attack.

TEL AVIV (Reuters) -The Israeli military intercepted the last boat in an aid flotilla attempting to reach blockaded Gaza on Friday, a day after stopping most of the vessels and detaining some 450 activists including Swedish campaigner Greta Thunberg.

The organisers of the Global Sumud Flotilla said the Marinette was intercepted some 42.5 nautical miles (79 km) from Gaza. Israeli army radio said the navy had taken control of the last ship in the flotilla, detained those aboard and that the vessel was being led to Ashdod port in Israel.
